Bulldogs were trained to grasp and hold livestock with canine teeth of the lower jaw
What are the advantages of a reduction in size of the nose and upper jaw in bulldogs as opposed to Wolves?
Bull dogs were actually used for herding bovine thus biting and hanging on to Bulls and that's why their nose is reseeded back, so they could breath while hanging on. that's all I know, sorry.
Reply:Shorter jaws allow a smaller target for other animals to bite onto and also increase bite pressure through better mechanical leverage. Biologically speaking, I would go with the fact that it gives a competing dog less of your face to bite onto.
Reply:Dog breeders thought the bulldogs looked cool. That's about it.
