I have had braces for about 2 months and today he switched the wire that goes through the brackets to a wire with little springs near the front. They go over my would-be canine teeth that are having trouble growing in. My ortho forgot to tell me about them because it was really busy today (like 4 people there, there is usually only 1 or 2 other people).
What are these for (what's the difference?) and can you still put wax over them or will it jam them up? And do I have to take special care of the wires?
What are the spring wires for w/ braces....?
From your description, it sounds like he put in a coiled spring. This would exert pressure on the teeth on either side of the canine and create a larger space for the canine to erupt. This is often done to create/expand space for a crowded tooth. Yes, if the coil is protruding and bothering you, by all means, put wax on it.
Reply:to control the spacing of your teeth, you can put wax over them, and take care of them the way you would take care of your other braces
