How much could it cost to get a dog's broken tooth removed?

My pug recently broken her tooth. I found the broken tooth (canine tooth) on my couch when cleaning. It shattered when I touched it. I'm going into the vet this weekend to have the tooth removed (she's not chewing on that side), but would like to know a ballpark of how much it might cost. The remaining tooth is just a small sliver.

The only one that can tell you is the vet, give them a call. They seen it know how bad or not it is, and all areas are different. My area in a few weeks my Jack Russell Terrier is going in for a dental, ISO gas anesthesia, and two molars pulled it's about $150.00 for me but like I said if I traveled 300 miles south of me it would be about $225.00
Reply:Shouldn't be too expensive, but likely will need anaesthesia.

What does it matter how much - it needs to be done, you wouldn't leave a broken tooth in your mouth to rot, become infected, cause you great nerve pain and possibly poison your system, so you surely wouldn't leave it in your dog's mouth either.
Reply:When my dog was a puppy, her canines wouldnt fall out so we had to have them pulled. It cost like $15 per tooth, plus the cost of general anesthesia to put her to sleep for the procedure which was about $80. then he gave her some pain pills just in case, which were about $4. So altogether it came to like $120.

It might be different for you because the tooth has already fallen out and left a sliver, making the vet's job more difficult. But really i was surprised at how inexpensive it was, and my girl recovered surprisingly fast.
Reply:Hasn't the dog been seen by a Vet already and given an estimate on the surgery? Teeth don't shatter when they are touched since tooth enamel is one of the hardest substances in nature. If it is a canine tooth then that goes all the way up into the jaw and it is unlikely that it will be removed. They will prob do a root canal and file it down to gum line. Take the dog to a Vet already. If the pulp is exposed the dog is definitely in pain and could get a life threatening infection.

Prob looking at minimum $500.00
Reply:That will all depend on the vet and what is involved in the surgery. Every vet can charge a different fee, not to mention where you live will make a difference too.
Reply:Well, I work at a veterinary hospital and I have to say that this is a rather open question. There are a lot of factors. Your pug will most likely need anesthesia, I can't imagine a vet would take it out without it but I have worked in this field for a long long time and there are some pretty backwoods veterinarians out there. How old is your pug? Will the other teeth need to be cleaned while he/she is under? Does your veterinarian require blood work or catheterization? You should just call them and ask them to give you an estimate.
