I have a slight recessed gum over my canine tooth from a recent retainer I have been wearing. It showed up a month ago. Is there any chance it will go back down? I don't have any other problems with other teeth. The hook on the retainer was too tight on the gum and caused this. Already talked to my dentist today. Wondering what other opinions are from professionals or people on here? Thanks in advanced.
I have a slight recessed gum..?
I predict it will go back down. Usually the gums stay or grow to about 2mm above the bone. Since the bone was likely not affected, the gums will probably grow back (have seen gums grow over completely exposed bone). When you brush, be gentle and use downstrokes toward the tooth as if trying to gently coax/pull the gums back down the tooth (rather than the other way). If it becomes a problem for you or gets worse, ask your dentist...you may want to ask them anyway. Take care.
