Another study about eating meat, but did you know this?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/618075...

That is a very interesting study, but in also in a recent study, one very interesting conclusion was found concerning 600 case studies(now remember, the FDA approves drugs on a regular basis with case studies as low as 30-50) of people 600 people who lived to be 100 years old or greater...are you ready?

Not a single vegetarian among them, not 1.

There may be something to eating a balanced diet(regardless of ones personal beliefs, just a certain people refuse to let their children have a blood transfusion, while watching their child die) since in reality, the human being is a predator(like ALL predators have eyes located at the front of the temporal lobes), and the canine teeth which we all posses are designed specifically to rip flesh.

I was a "veggie" for six months as an experiment while in college, and frankly, my options as far as food was fairly bland. Food and sex SHOULD be enjoyable as well as healthy(in moderation).

Another study about eating meat, but did you know this?
I can't believe you compared vegetarianism to someone who won't let their child have a blood transfusion. That was really reaching, and pretty disrespectful. I don't even see why a "comparison" needed to be made.

Do you think your front teeth could actually RIP flesh? I've bitten someone pretty hard and even then, I don't think I could rip their flesh. We don't even have jaws shaped like most meat-ripping animals. I'm not saying to not eat meat, but making it sound like we should be running around naked catching antelopes with our bare hands is a little far fetched.

And I don't WANT to live to be 100!
Reply:is not worth dying for(unless to save a spouse, or child) never mind an animal. Entities like PETA, spout off information and I don't believe they have a single scientist or engineer working for them... Report It

Reply:...The human being(and game) has, is , and always be at war, suffering famine, injustice, disease, poverty, slavery...just as stated in the Bible 2000 years ago. Accept your fate for what you are, and what you are not.

Cheers. Report It

Reply:hhhmmmmm i have read differently

and you must and have to remember that these studies are extremely biased!!!.... study will very conveniently find its own conclusions based on who is funding the study and who wants a specific outcome
Reply:So if I'm stuck in an island and nothing but fish and coconuts. Can I still live to be 100 with plenty of masturbation?
Reply:Waaaaaaaaah, will you people get it right!?

We don't have proper canines! Cats and dogs have canines.

We have flat teeth that are incapable of causing adequate damage to take down the animals we buy packaged as beef, pork etc

Finally, vegetarianism is relatively new to the West. How many 100 year old vegetarian Buddhists are in existance, I wonder! How many Hindhus?

Your final paragraph was pretty lame. You can't write off the most important part of your diet- fruits and vegetables- as bland unless you're the worst chef in the world. Where does sex come into it? You're supposed to eat the food, not sleep with it!
Reply:1) This is only the second generation who grew up eating meat practically every day. Prior to that, it just wasn't that available, and a lot of people couldn't afford it. The first generation to grow up like this was was the Baby Boomers, who are plagued with heart disease, arteriosclerosis, type II diabetes, and cancer at progressively younger ages. So the 100 year-olds would not have eaten anywhere near as much meat as people today do.

2) Your lack of imagination or cooking skills doesn't mean a vegetarian diet is bland. It just means you either can't or don't cook, and don't have much of an imagination. I eat a far greater variety of foods and dishes than I did when I was omnivorous. I love to eat, and there is no way I could stick to a diet that was bland.

3) Additionally, the concept of being a vegetarian really didn't reach the West in any numbers until the 60's. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that there would have been any vegetarians who were 100 years old in a study done today.
Reply:Well, it would take a meat-eater to miss the point completely here.

Just how many vegetarians do you think there are that have been veggie all there lives and were born in 1907. Its nothing to do with diet. They went through 2 world wars and a world that was TOTALLY different from todays food knowledge, animal husbandry and moral beliefs.

There were no veggies in the list because there were fewer around 100 year ago, not because they don't live as long.

There is nothing bland about real veggie food.

I'm 41 and veggie , so i guess i'll say my "goodbyes" now...cheers everyone...feeling weak..heads spinning....stay away from the light !....too late...
Reply:You should have done a little more research. That study was funded by the meat industry. First of all, those "canine" teeth of yours are really two tiny little incisor teeth-lets see you "rip flesh" from a cows behind, without the benefit of tools, or cooking. The remainder of human teeth are flat, like other vegetarian creatures. If you look at a true predator, you will see they have a mouthful of claw teeth, and claws to kill their prey, and the ability to hunt it, catch it, kill it, and consume it without preparation. Predatory animals are also elongated and walk on four legs. Humans have an imposable thumb and their bodies are well designed for gathering fruits and vegetables, and tending gardens. Many cultures are totally vegetarian and outlive us, many being most productive in their older years. Tell yourself whatever you need to justify eating dead animals, but the teeth theory just doesnt cut it-literally. Lets see you "rip the flesh" of an animal out in the wild, without tools and cooking, then perhaps you can convince me. Eating meat is just using your body as a graveyard for decaying animal carcase, and I see nothing logical about that. Not to mention that meat is full of parasites, bacteria, pus, urine, fecal matter, cholesterol, purines, growth hormones, steroids, antibiotics, etc. I think I will use my "canine" teeth to nibble on my veggies, as nature intended. As for your bland diet, perhaps you should have researched ethnic cuisines-my diet is far more interesting now than it was with meat and potatoes.
Reply:Well good thing I am not vegetarian to live longer. Im a vegetarian to help the animals to live longer.

Oh and also - it depends on where they get the data from. If they get it from Nepal, then probably 590 out of 600 people would have been vegetarians. If they got the info from Texas, that makes more sense for your study.

nice try though.
Reply:Dont you know that many of these studies are funded by the meat industry. And also if they picked out 600 ppl, it's easy to just look for meat eaters, who consume meat rarely, if you're after a certain result. These things can be so easily manipulated. All I know is that I wasnt sick for a very long time since I turned vegan, and I used to be a very fragile person. I also know that many vegetarians and vegans tell the same thing. So I rather trust my eyes than some fake study obviously designed to sell you meat.

600 is a small number comparing to MILLIONS who die in cancer, or from lung- or heart condition due to their meat loaded diet. Just because some people dont die from smoking, doesnt mean that tobacco is harmless, since too many *do* die. Same goes for meat and dairy. I would say if theres any truth in that study (which I doubt) those ppl are very lucky.
Reply:Lets think this through…..100 years old that means they were born in 1907, depending when this “study” took place. Back then, people were not as open to make lifestyle decisions and changes (freedom of religion, race, sexual preferences etc.) so obviously not many could expect to see many veggies running around in 1907 in the United States. However people in India and other countries have lived a veggie lifestyle and are perfectly healthy and live long lives. Are we taking into account how many die of obesity, heart disease, and cancer? Secondly, people are all different and have different health problems. Some are healthier than others. A healthy diet regardless of values and beliefs is always a benefit.

However if your family tree is prone to genetic diseases veggie or not, there is a good chance you will not make it to 100.

Many vegetarians became vegetarians for ethical reasons. Many of us don’t want to be a part of the mass torture and slaughter of animals.

Do we have identical teeth to “animal predators”? I don’t think so!! I’m no professional but when I look at my cat’s teeth, they look nothing like mine, mine are more flat and hers are a lot sharper! A cow is not a predator, and it has eyes that are located at the front of the temporal lobes.

To say that vegetarian foods are all bland and that we do not enjoy it nor do we enjoy our sex life is pretty ignorant, or you’re a pretty bad cook who is inadequate in the bedroom, and is trying to blame these mishaps on vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. If you enjoy a meat eating diet, we are all happy for you, but guess what………….. We don’t and you’re in a veggie and vegan forum, and no one is complaining here.
Reply:"Food and sex SHOULD be enjoyable as well as healthy"

Well, you retard, it's healthier to be vegan and vegetarian. Check your facts, pus-sucker.
Reply:If the study started with 0 vegetarians, then would you expect any to be in the 600 people?
