For braces, if you don't wear your retainer..?

will they move back to the position they were in or will they move to different positions?

Say,

before braces both of your canine teeth were turned to much to the left.

get em' fixed, dont wear your retainer, will the move back to the EXACT position, or will other teeth move also?

For braces, if you don't wear your retainer..?
Your teeth won't go back to exactly the way they were, but they will move, and you won't know which will go where until it's too late. Just wear your retainer. Otherwise you went through the pain of braces (not to mention the expense) for nothing.
Reply:it just depends!! some will moe right back but usually they just move around! i would recommend to just wear your reatiner!! ahaha
Reply:Yes, they will move back into their original or another disorderly position. One of the ladies I worked with had to have braces twice. Once when she was in high school and once in her twenties. She had to have the braces in her twenties because she didn't wear her retainer and her teeth became crooked again. The crappiest part is that she had to pay her own way the second time !! Her teeth look good now, and yes she is wearing her retainer at least five nights a weeks (when she sleeps).
Reply:I never wore my retainer and my teeth are fine but they did start moving around a bit over the past few years. If I could go back I would have wore my retainer.
Reply:All studies show that teeth move throughout life. IN the early years one of the main reasons we ask patients to wear their retainers is because the 3rd molars erupt forward and this in turn pushes the other teeth forward thereby causing crowding again. It may not be as bad but it could. If you are having a problem with your removable retainer , ask your dentist about a fixed one. Only drawback being that flossing is like when you had your braces on.

Good Luck
