Question about braces?

I've had braces for a year and I am just curious how much longer I will have to wear them. My teeth are almost completely straight except for the fact that my canine teeth have to be pulled down because they are slightly higher than the rest of my teeth. How much longer????

I had the same problem and what I found was that it will take the canine teeth about 3 more months. Then you will have to wait for about another 2 months for good measure to make sure nothing will move for the first little bit before you have to get retainers.
Reply:That's up to your orthodontist, and depends on how bad your teeth were to begin with. On average most people have their braces for one to two years, then another year or so of retainers after that.
Reply:Most people I know who have had or have braces wore them for about an average of three years. Although it may look like your teeth are pretty straight, they're not yet, because the braces haven't quite "done their job" yet. It takes a long time for your teeth to be adjusted permanentaly. Just hang in there!
Reply:Be patient it is worth your wait! I had them for almost 4yrs. It paid off my smile is my best feature :-)
