i have a small space in between my front teeth and my canines have moved down a bit but they aren't in line with my other teeth still, will my ortodontist put power chains on my teeth or the regular colored bands at my first adjustment?
I just got braces 5 days ago and and i am getting them tightened on sept. 11, will i get a chain or bands?
you are pretty safe for your first time getting a checkup on your braces! they will wait a few months if they are planning on adding chains or bands to the exteriour of the braces. i had them for 3 years and it is so worth it!! just think of it as a temporary thing and time will fly! good luck
Reply:Power chains are usually to rap up your finsished product (when you are about to get your braces off.) Depending on the severity of the gap, you most likely will not get a powerchain until your braces are about ready to come off.
Reply:i had braces for a year and a half before they mentioned rubber bands, then 6 months later i got my first chain. either way, chains don't hurt a tad, just make rubber bands a bit more tough to put on. rubber bands are a bit for the radical movements over a long period of time, i'm not sure they'll do it the first adjustment though. probably just re-wire with a thicker wire.
