My six month old papillon has two canines on one side....?

Should I expect her to lose the skinny needle-like one, or should I take it up with the vet? She's not bothered, but she's my first puppy so I am. She lost the other one before the second started comming in, but both sides are about the same on the new teeth, it's just the baby tooth is still in and holding strong.

By canines I mean the fangy teeth, correct me if I'm wrong, and all I've done is poke at it a little to see if it was lose.

Bring her in to the vet and have him look at it. The vet might just be able to tug on it to get it out. If it does not come out, her bite can end up off. The vet might need to sedate her to pull it. It should come out.
Reply:You can call your local vet clinic and ask how long you should wait before the baby tooth would become a problem.
Reply:That is a very common situation. Her baby tooth just didn't fall out. But when she is in for her spay, mention it to them and they can very easily pull it out. Not pulling the tooth can make her prone to dental issues as it traps food particles between those teeth. And as mentioned before, if it comes out later, her adult tooth could be misaligned.

No worries, like I said, very common and easily fixed. Good luck
Reply:My mastiff puppy had the same thing with all 4 canines - top and bottom. For 3 or 4 days he went around with 8 fangs in his mouth but then overnight the baby teeth just disappeared/fell out/got swallowed. My vet said if he wasn't exhibiting signs of discomfort or pain to just leave it alone. Offer him something soft to chew - a twist of rope for example instead of a bone - which may help to loosen the tooth. My little guy developed a liking for ice cubes, maybe because the cold was soothing to him.

congratulations on getting a puppy! Dogs make a remarkable impact on your life.
