Whats wrong with my gums?

ive noticed over the past two months that when i chew food or gum on a certain spot towards the left of my mouth...the second tooth back from the canine or the gum of that tooth sends a sharp through the left of my mouth...whats wrong with it? i told my mom about it but she said it was just food stuck between my teeth or my braces, i checked and there was nothing there that i could see.

Whats wrong with my gums?
If you are in orthodontics, you shouldn't be chewing gum. I'm sure if anything were wrong (such as decay) your orthodontic team would have spotted it.

Additional information: It's possible that you are chewing too hard on already loose teeth, your teeth are in constant movement during you orthodontic treatment. You may have loosened a band and decay may be involved due to the band leaking. I doubt seriously that you have a broken or cracked tooth, but it would be wise to inform your orthodontist at your next appointment. He will be able to evaluate the area more thoroughly. Good luck with your treatment.
Reply:You need to go to the dentist.
Reply:Go to the dentist to have them take a look at it.
Reply:I agree, you should go to a dentist. My (very unprofessional) opinion, exposed nerve ending (cavity).
Reply:sharp pains indicate a cracked tooth lots of time. ask your orthodontist or general dentist to look at it , they will probably need an x-ray
