We have a St Bernard puppy, 7 mo old, lower jaw seems underdeveloped and the teeth are not matching up.?

Will this problem solve itself as her lower jaw grows? I worry that the lower canines are coming in, inside of the uppers. The upper jaw is about 1/3rd inch longer than the lower one at this time, and the lower one is also narrower than the upper.

Have you spoken to your breeder??? Or your vet about your conserns?

That's the 2 places I'd go to first about this.
Reply:Why not consult your vet? He will help you with what ever problems regarding your dog.
Reply:I do not know for sure on the breed standards, but sounds like a bad bite. Not a big deal if you are willing to take care of a it, love it, neuter it, and put up with some drool.

It should get a little better as the pup grows. You can take the pup to the vet and make sure all the teeth are coming in straight, but that is about it. If it is horribly underdeveloped, i know someone who had a chihuahua who had to have some teeth extracted by the vet because there was not enough room for them all and a couple had impacted. Her jaw was grossly underdeveloped.

It is not a big deal, unless you were looking for a show quality dog.

Best of luck.
Reply:That is pretty bad. It is probably going to get worse. Maybe consult the vet and see if there is anything that can be done. If so, it will probably cost some big bucks.

Sometimes this can be so bad that the dog has trouble eating or the tounge hangs out.

DO NOT BREED THIS DOG EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Take him to the vet
